MT. VERNON — A 66-year-old Mt. Vernon man facing multiple counts of Class X felony child pornography offenses agreed in Jefferson County court Wednesday to change his plea of not guilty.
Aaron Thomas is charged with 20 counts possession of child pornography featuring a victim under the age of 13.
Thomas has waived his right to a speedy trial but agreed Wednesday to change his “not guilty” plea at his next court hearing on May 29.
Jefferson County Sheriff’s detectives began gathering information several months before Thomas’ Augusts 2018 arrest.
They obtained a search warrant for Thomas’ home where they seized his computer, along with other items.
Reports say the computer was searched and child pornography was found.
That evidence was then taken to Jefferson County State’s Attorney Sean Featherstun and he presented the evidence to a judge who issued a warrant for Thomas’ arrest.
