CENTRALIA — Centralia police responded Wednesday night to the 500 block of South Sycamore on reports of shots fired.
According to Centralia Police Chief Brian Atchison, a resident in the 500 block of South Sycamore noticed three individuals messing with his truck. When he went out to confront them they reportedly fled on foot, with the resident following them in his truck.
Atchison says that as the resident turned out of the alley and was headed south on Sixth Street he encountered one of the individuals in a shooting stance with a firearm. The individual, described as a young black male wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt and dark pants began firing at the truck. Fortunately, says Atchison, no one was struck.
Police were unable to locate the three suspects, described as young black males in their late teens to early 20s. Numerous shell casings were located in the street and an investigation into the incident continues.
Atchison says Monday night’s incident is an example of why people shouldn’t confront suspicious individuals, but should instead contact the police.
