Jane Woodson Hoyt, 88, of Mount Vernon, Illinois passed away at 12:30 P.M.April 18, 2019 at her residence in Mount Vernon, Illinois. She was born February 1, 1931 in Glasgow, Kentucky to the late William Dillon Woodson and Mary Elizabeth (Wilson) Woodson. she married Billy Armand Hoyt on November 24, 1949 in Hopkinsville, Kentucky. They were blessed with nearly 31 years of marriage until he preceded her in death on December 23, 1980.
Jane is survived by her two sons, John Hoyt and wife, Cathy of Los Angeles, California, and Billy Hoyt, Jr. and wife, Jennifer of Saint Louis, Missouri; three daughters, Rita Hoyt Smith of Knoxville, Tennessee, Mary Ann Williams and husband, Dennis of Mount Vernon, Illinois, and Marguerite Hoyt and husband, Ken Sembach of Ellicott City, Maryland; six grandchildren, Matthew Smith, Michael Smith, Christian Williams, Ethan Williams, Maggie Hoyt, and David Hoyt; four brothers, Urey Woodson, Ralph Woodson and wife, Alma, William Woodson and wife, Linda, and George Woodson and wife, Rita; two sisters, Mary Rapier and Sarah Luttrell; several nieces and nephews; two sisters-in-law, Mae Woodson and Gladys Woodson; and one brother-in-law, William Luttrell.
Jane was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Kate Hoyt; two brothers, Arthur Woodson and David Woodson; and sister-in-law, Nancy Woodson.
Jane was a homemaker and later enjoyed working in retail at K.B. Toys and Sears in Mount Vernon. She also worked as a nanny for two different families. Jane’s family was most important to her and she loved animals. She will be missed dearly by all who knew her.
A Greeting of family and friends will be held from 1:00 P.M. to 2:30 P.M. Saturday, April 27, 2019 at Newell Funeral Home at 601 South 42nd Street in Mount Vernon, Illinois. A Celebration of life service will be held at a later date.Memorials may be made to Cardinals Cares.
