ILLINOIS (RFD) — The Illinois Department of Agriculture is reminding farmers to heed cautiously when applying anhydrous ammonia this spring. The agency’s Jeff Squibb says don’t be in a hurry.

Squibb says anytime there is a release of more than 100 pounds or 18-gallons of ammonia it must be reported to emergency responder’s within 15-minutes of spill. If the release is not reported, both federal and state penalties apply.
