MT. VERNON — Cedarhurst Center for the Arts in Mt. Vernon has named a new Executive Director. John Burroughs grew up on a farm near Salem, attended Kaskaskia College, he then earned a B.A. in history from Eastern Illinois University, before moving onto get his M.A. degree in public administration and policy analysis, as well as a certificate in museum studies from SIUE.
Burroughs says his career path has carried him in and out of the area but he’s excited to come back to southern Illinois.
Prior to leading the Rogers Historical Museum in Arkansas, Burroughs served as the assistant director for six years. He says everyone involved at Cedarhurst has created a quality situation he hopes to build on for the public during his tenure.
The center is open Tuesday through Sunday throughout the year. Find details on their operating hours at cedarhurst.org.
