WAYNE COUNTY — One person was transported to an area hospital Wednesday afternoon after an armored truck struck a semi on I-64 in Wayne County.
Illinois State Police say 23-year-old Joseph W. Wright of Evansville, Indiana was driving westbound on the interstate when the semi, driven by 34-year-old Robert Ijames of Calhoun, Kentucky merged into the driving lane from the right shoulder of the road. Wright’s armored truck rear-ended Ijames’ semi. Wright’s passenger, 40-year-old David B. Huffman of Lebanon Junction, Kentucky, was taken to an area hospital for his injuries. Wright was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.
Illinois State Police District 19 was assisted on scene by Wayne City Ambulance, Wayne County Ambulance, Wayne City Fire Department, Sully’s Towing, and IDOT.
