FAYETTE COUNTY — A pretrial hearing for a 69-year-old Mulberry Grove man charged with murder was continued Friday in Fayette County Court.
David Bright is charged with 2 counts of first-degree murder in the death of James Skinner in September 2017.
Prosecutors accuse Bright of striking Skinner in the head with a sledgehammer, which caused Skinner’s death.
Bright’s defense informed the court Friday that it is still waiting on a report from Centralia Private Investigator Kevin McClain and a motion was filed to continue the hearing until February 1.
Each count of first-degree murder is punishable by between 20 years to life in prison. Bright remains in the Fayette County Jail with bail set at $1 million.
