SALEM — The Salem Police Department is alerting the public that motion picture “prop money” is again being circulated in Southern Illinois.

This fake money is almost always $100 bills and has no legitimate cash value. People should closely inspect bills they receive.

Though close fabrications, they will say “Motion Picture Money” on the front and back of the bill instead of “United States of America.”

If someone tries to pass one of these bills during a transaction, please contact the Salem Police Department at 548–2232 or contact your local law enforcement agency.
