JACKSON COUNTY — Bail has been set at $2.5 million for a 54-year-old DeSoto woman accused of hiring someone to murder her husband.

Carmen Stonemark pleaded not guilty Tuesday in Jackson County court to five charges, stemming from the death of Frank Stonemark in October.

James Michael Deese has admitted to killing Frank Stonemark Oct. 29, 2017.

Two days after Deese’s July 11 plea agreement, prosecutors charged Carmen Stonemark with hiring Deese to commit the murder.

The indictment accuses Stonemark of hiring Deese to kill her husband, then helping Deese move the body to hide it.

Several sources said police found the body chopped into pieces, but the Jackson County Coroner wasn’t available to confirm.

Stonemark will appear in court for a pre-trial hearing Sept. 4, a day before Deese is scheduled to be sentenced.

The judge set her trial for Oct. 15.
