There was a fatal crash on I-57 in Williamson County early Monday morning.
Illinois State Police say around 2:10 a.m., 41-year-old Jermaine T. Jackson of Chattanooga, Tennessee was driving his car south on I-57 at milepost 55 when he left the roadway to the right. Jackson overcorrected, lost control of the car and struck the guardrail.
Jackson was pronounced dead at the scene by the Williamson County Coroner.
Jackson had two passengers with him when the accident happened. A juvenile of Chattanooga was taken to Heartland Regional Medical Center in Marion with non-life threatening injuries. 28-year-old Lytece D. Grinnage of Chattanooga was not injured.
ISP says the cause of the crash was improper lane usage and driver fatigue.
All three were wearing seat belts. No charges were filed.
