The Mt. Vernon City Council has given the city manager permission to seek bids for roadwork on North 44th Street. The project will include curb and gutter construction, along with topography work that will ease the hill’s slope in the area.
Mt. Vernon City Manager Mary Ellen Bechtel told the council that the project will likely cost around one-million dollars. She says the funds will come from bonds already issued in 2012.
The North 44th Street project has received approval as road work is currently underway on South 44th Street at the intersection with Route 15. Bechtel said at Monday’s meeting that the South 44th Street project should be completed by the fall.
