A 26-year-old Chicago woman is in the Clay County Jail for allegedly passing fraudulent prescriptions at a local pharmacy.
According to the Clay County Sheriff’s Office, Shanna A. Steele was arrested Monday following a vehicle and brief foot chase.
Deputies were responding around 4:30 a.m. to a report of subject(s) passing fraudulent prescriptions at a local pharmacy.
Upon the deputy’s arrival the suspects fled the area, one in a vehicle and the other on foot. A short time later one of the suspects was located hiding behind a business and was taken into custody.
Steele was arrested for alleged forgery and unauthorized possession of a prescription form.
She was formally charged Wednesday with two felony counts of possessing a blank prescription and was then released from jail on a $7,500 personal recognizance bond.
