The McLeansboro City Council took no action on the city’s new water tower project and on the sanitary sewer collection system project at Tuesday night’s meeting.

The council decided to table these two issues along with repairs on the McCoy Memorial Library while it waits for approval regarding the USDA Rural Development Grant.

The current location being investigated for the new water tower is near Virginia and Walker streets in an area known as South Columbia Park.

City Clerk Fred Vallowe told us earlier this week building a new, larger water tower will help better meet the needs of residents in McLeansboro and allow for future growth. Work is being done now to best utilize the city’s resources and needs.

The sanitary sewer collection system project calls for updating a lift station and replacing sanitary water lines in the city.
