The repaving and striping project and road closure on Rend Lake Dam Road in Benton has been extended until Friday afternoon due to temperatures last Thursday morning plummeting into the 30 degree range causing the asphalt plant to cease operation of material for the day.

Representatives from the U.S Corps of Engineers, Lake Contracting and E.T. Simonds determined that shutting down work on the repaving project until weather temperatures increased would be necessary to assure the quality of the product used on the job.

They say the road should be back open sometime Friday afternoon.
