Two men were arrested Wednesday night by Marion County Sheriff’s deputies after drugs were reportedly found during a traffic stop.

According to reports, deputies stopped a vehicle for alleged improper lane change on West Main near Baldridge Lane in Salem.

Deputies report that when they approached the stopped vehicle, they detected a strong odor of cannabis.

They found 53-year-old Victor Akin, of Benton, and 43-year-old Roy Stinson, who said he was homeless, were the only two occupants of the stopped vehicle.

Deputies claim that as Stinson was being questioned, he tossed two baggies into an area of tall grass. The baggies were reportedly located and recoered with the help of the county K-9 unit, and Stinson then turned oer a third baggie hidden in his clothing that contained a substance that tested positive for meth.

Both men were ultimately taken into custody and transported to the Marion County Jail for alleged possession of over 15 grams of methamphetamine.

The two indicated they had come to Marion County to purchase the meth.
