Carterville Police are investigating two reports of shots fire from earlier this week.
Police got a call around 6 p.m. Tuesday about an incident where the victim heard a single popping sound around 3 p.m. that day in the 200 block of McNeil Street and discovered a bullet hole in his vehicle parked outside his home that evening.
Officers also responded to a report of shots fires in the 600 block of California Street at 1:10 a.m. Wednesday, but weren’t able to find the source.
At 7:30 a.m., police learned that a second vehicle and the home was found damaged on McNeil Street by the additional gunfire. No injuries were reported.
Preliminary information indicates these incidents were the result of a dispute between acquaintances and not a random act of violence.
Anyone with information should contact Carterville Police.
