Salem Community High School Superintendent Brad Detering is reporting the school has received information about the possibility of a threat of school violence; however, at this time there is no credible information to substantiate the claim.
SCHS, along with the Salem Police Department, has investigated the threat, and at this time they have no evidence to indicate the threat is more than what Police Chief Sean Reynolds described as rumors on social media that got out of hand.
Both Detering and Reynolds assure the public they always take threats of this nature seriously and especially in light of recent events, they certainly understand the apprehension.
Reynolds says his officers make walk thrus at the high school every day, and the police presence is not unusual.
