A 22-year-old Mt. Vernon man has been arrested in connection with two October 2 shootings.
Dante T. Moore faces two counts of aggravated battery with a firearm and two counts of aggravated discharge of a firearm.
Moore is accused of shooting someone on Oct. 2, and that that he, or someone for whose conduct he is accountable, discharged a firearm and shot a second person on the same date. Both shooting victims were treated and released from the hospital.
The Mt. Vernon Police Department subsequently named Moore a person of interest in connection with the case. Formal charges were later filed against him and an arrest warrant was issued.
Moore was arrested December 9 in a jurisdiction outside Jefferson County. He’s awaiting extradition back to Mt. Vernon where he will face the local charges. The location where Moore is currently held has not been released.
MVPD responded Oct. 2 to a report of gunshots in the area of 23rd Street and Conger Avenue. Two people were reportedly shot and taken to local hospitals for treatment. A firearm, narcotics and currency were recovered from the scene.
