The Benton City Council is expected to discuss and approve releasing a portion of the Oct. 23 closed session minutes dealing with issues pertaining to the Benton Municipal Airport when it meets tomorrow night at 6 at City Hall.

This week’s meeting was moved to Wednesday due to the Christmas holiday on Monday.

The Illinois Attorney General’s Office recently released an opinion saying the city violated the Open Meetings Act by not discussing in open session an airport wildlife fence project and request for qualifications process for new airport engineering services. This was done in closed session.  A Benton resident, Julie Payne-Huber, notified the AG’s office about the violation, which led to the AG’s opinion.

The council is also expected to approve a sexual harassment prohibition ordinance at tomorrow night’s meeting. The council approved a sexual harassment policy at its meeting on Dec. 11.
