A 25-year-old Mt. Vernon Man has been sentenced to 15 years in prison after he pleaded guilty this week to the lesser of three charges against him stemming from a March carjacking.
Anthony Humphries, also known as Anthony Ali, was charged with two Class X felony counts for armed robbery and aggravated vehicular hijacking with a weapon, as well as Class 1 felony vehicular hijacking. Humphries pleaded guilty to the Class 1 felony in exchange for the other two counts being dismissed.
According to court records, Humphries stole a vehicle on March 7 by use and threat of force with a firearm. Humphries also allegedly stole a cell phone and candy while armed.
Humphries temporarily represented himself, but after he was found fit to stand trial in August he requested a public defender again be appointed to his case.
