CENTRALIA — The City of Centralia will be looking for a new City Manager, as current City Manager Dan Ramey handed in his letter of resignation to Mayor Tom Ashby Monday night just minutes before the regularly scheduled city council meeting.
Ramey’s final day will be January 22; it’s the second time he has resigned his position since first being hired more than six years ago.
Ashby brought up the letter at end of the meeting, saying he was at a loss of words and then reading the letter.
Ramey says in the letter that he feels it’s time for his time in office to end and that he knows he’s leaving with 100-percent support of the mayor and city council.
Ramey will turn 61 the day his resignation is effective, but as before would was open to a short term arrangement to work with the city after that date for a smooth transition.
Before adjourning the meeting, Ashby noted some of Ramey’s accomplishments, noting the City has taken care of a $26-million dollar mandate and has brought in a new Best Western Motel and strip mall.
