Janice Pierce, 81, passed away on August 28, 2017, at her residence in Bonnie, IL. She was born February 10, 1936, in Vandalia, IL to parents Alvin and Theresa Marie Hathaway. She first married Bill Brumfield and later Harry Pierce. Both husbands had preceded her in death.

Janice is survived by her son, Kenny Brumfield of Belle Rive, IL; brothers-in-law, Bobby Thalman of Mount Vernon, IL, and Gary Brumfield and wife, Sandy of Vandalia, IL; nieces, Becky Zimmerman of Mount Vernon, IL, Tina Burton of St. Louis, MO, Angie Gathe and husband, Dave of Mount Vernon, IL, and Pam Crawford and husband, Ronnie of Mount Vernon, IL; nephews, Larry Zimmerman and wife, Kay of Centralia, IL, and Scott Hathaway and wife, Carol of Belleville, IL; step-daughter, Darlene Allen of Bonnie, IL; step-grandson, Harry (Junior) Pierce of Nason, IL; and special friends, Jeff Johnson and wife, Jennifer of Mount Vernon, IL, Penny Galiher of Mount Vernon, IL; and Max and Kathy Ehrat of Mount Vernon, IL.

In addition to her parents and husbands, Janice was preceded in death by an infant daughter; two sons, Kevin Brumfield and Kelly Brumfield; daughter-in-law, Marsha Brumfield; brother, James Hathaway; sisters, Tiny Denning and Joyce Zimmerman; and several brothers and sisters-in-law.

Per Janice’s wishes, she will be cremated and no public services will be held. Hughey Funeral Home is in charge of her arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Good Samaritan Hospice and will be accepted at the funeral home. Janice would like to give a special thanks to her caregivers Cindy Dycus, Debby Sandy, Andrea Craddock, and Darlene Davis.
