Al J. Butts is charged with Class 2 felony production of between 50 and 200 cannabis plants, and Class 3 felonies for being a felon in possession of a firearm, possession of less than 5-grams of methamphetamine and manufacture with the intent to deliver between 30 and 500 grams of cannabis.
Butts was arrested Monday night after a search warrant was executed at his Kinmundy home.
According to reports, Butts wasn’t present at the time the warrant was executed but he was ultimately taken into custody and transported to the Marion County Jail.
Marion County Sheriff’s deputies and Kinmundy police sought the search warrant after receiving a tip about alleged drug activity at Butts’ home and after allegedly finding a cannabis plant in Butts’ garden.
The subsequent search reportedly revealed 60 cannabis plants in the garden along with six other starter plants by the garage, and less than five grams of meth, 77 grams of cannabis, a digital scale and other paraphernalia in the house, along with a .22 caliber gun in the kitchen.
