UPDATED: Suspect taken into custody
RAMSEY, Ill. — Law enforcement is searching for a 24-year-old St. Elmo man charged in connection with attempted first degree murder for a Friday morning shooting in Ramsey.
According to the Fayette County State’s Attorney’s Office, Alexander R. Beccue has been charged with attempted first-degree murder, possession of a stolen vehicle and unlawful possession of weapons by a felon.
Charging information claims Beccue allegedly “with the intent to kill Joshua K. Smith, shot Joshua K. Smith in the head” with a .38 caliber revolver.
Authorities report a warrant has been issued for Beccue who currently remains at large and that Beccue should be considered armed and dangerous and that he should not be approached.
Beccue is currently on parole from the Illinois Department of Corrections on a 2014 conviction out of Effingham County for manufacturing methamphetamine.
The Fayette County Sheriff’s Department, Ramsey Police, Secretary of State Police and the Illinois State Police continue to investigate.
