MT. VERNON — The Mt. Vernon City Council will hear a first reading on possible changes to gaming and liquor ordinances in the regular meeting tonight at 7 p.m. at the Rolland W. Lewis Building.
An Interchange Video Gaming License has been created to allow sales and consumption of beer and wine only to a business within three-fourths of a mile from the three Interstate interchanges in the city.
Other changes could lead to new licenses to be offered in the future including a package sales for beer and wine without on-site consumption; a retail business license which allows on-site consumption but denies package sales; and a temporary event license allowing up to 26 one-day licenses on behalf of for-profit business.
Temporary and outdoor sales would only allow for paper and plastic containers. No glass or aluminum would be allowed under one possible change.
The council will also: Discuss the first read for changes to manufactured home development requirements and mobile homes; hear a resolution for an economic development agreement with Roadhouse Harley-Davidson; hear a request to close Lamar from 19th to 20th streets for a neighborhood block party on Aug. 12; and hear a resolution approving an electric agreement with Constellation Energy Services.
You can listen to the meeting on WMIX-AM 940, 96.5 FM & WMIX94.com.
