EVANSVILLE, Ind. — A 27-year-old Centralia man is the latest to be arrested in connection with a June warrant sweep connected to the sales of illicit drugs in the area.
Donald Hemmings, Jr., was arrested last month in Indiana, on a Marion County warrant charging him with four felony counts delivery of methamphetamine and two counts delivery of heroin.
Hemmings was extradited Tuesday from Evansville, Indiana, where he had been held with bail set at $50,000. He had recently waived extradition back to Illinois and was transported back to Marion County to be tried on the charges. It’s believed he will be arraigned Wednesday on the charges in Marion County Court.
Law enforcement says two others charged in connection with the eight-month joint investigation into drug sales remain wanted and a third is already in the Illinois Department of Corrections on unrelated charges.
The eight-month investigation by the Centralia Police Department and the Marion County Sheriff’s Office resulted in the arrests of 15 others on drug-related charges, one of whom has now been indicted in federal court.
