(Cairo, IL)  —  Alexander County emergency operators will soon have a new tool at their disposal. U.S. Senators Tammy Duckworth and Dick Durbin last week announced a grant to buy the county a new pick-up truck for emergency response. The grant is worth 25 thousand-dollars, Alexander County leaders say they’re grateful for any help that they can get. Senator Duckworth said she made the decision to push for the grant after visiting Alexander County earlier this month, and seeing for herself the challenges that the community faces.
