Betty Jo Tate, 67, of Texico, passed away at 10:57 p.m. Sunday, July 16, 2017, at Crossroads Community Hospital in Mt. Vernon. She was born May 15, 1950, in Du Quoin, the daughter of Robert and Margurite (Dunihoo) Hardin.  On April 24, 1978, in Mt. Vernon, she married Robert Lewis Tate, and he preceded her in death on February 6, 2013.  She worked for North American Lighting, and spent many years taking care of her family.  She loved her grandchildren, and considered them her world. She is survived by four children, Kim Tate and Partner Mallory Johnston of Mt. Vernon, Lindi Richards and husband Jason of Belle Rive, Kellie Tate and Partner Christopher Hedditch of Mt. Vernon, and Robert Tate, II, of Texico;  three grandchildren, Andrew Richards, Sydney Richards, and Norah Hedditch;  and two sisters, Judy Ruffino of Pinckneyville, and Ginner DeMarie of Du Quoin. In addition to her husband, Robert Lewis Tate, she was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Jaclyn Suzanne Palmer; and two brothers, Robert Hardin and Larry Hardin. Funeral services for Mrs. Tate will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 21, 2017, at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, with Rev. Jack Lucas officiating.  Burial will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery.  A Visitation will be held Thursday, July 20, 2017, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., at the Osborn Funeral Home in Dix.  Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, and will be accepted at the service, or by mail to the Osborn Funeral Home, P.O.
