MT. VERNON — A Belleville Man who allegedly robbed the former Old National Bank in Mt. Vernon pleaded guilty in Jefferson County Court on Friday. 47-year-old Rodney D. Brock had been charged with the robbery of a financial institution which is a Class 1 Felony.
In the guilty plea Brock admitted that on Friday, June 12, 2015, he used threats of force and/or intimidation to acquire cash belonging to Old National Bank. The Old National branch has since been acquired by First Mid-Illinois Bank & Trust.
Brock received an 11 year sentence in the Illinois Department of Corrections, four years shy of the maximum 15 year penalty. Brock did not use a weapon in the crime, only using a note demanding money. He will likely only serve approximately half of the sentence with good behavior.
