Effingham, IL – Illinois State Police District 12 Commander, Captain Cory Ristvedt, Monday announced activity and enforcement figures for the month of February.  Troopers in District 12, which includes Clark, Clay, Crawford, Cumberland, Effingham, Fayette, Jasper, Lawrence, Marion, and Richland Counties, answered 150 calls for service and initiated 1,714 incidents in the field. In addition, enforcement figures totaled 892 citations and 845 written warnings, including 422 speeding citations, 15 DUIs, 122 seat belt citations, 2 child restraint citations, 269 written warnings for speeding, and 41 criminal arrests. Troopers also assisted 142 motorists, conducted 329 Motor Carrier Inspections, and investigated 51 traffic crashes.  There were 2 fatal traffic crash investigated by District 12 in February.  During the month, 427 citations and 307 written warnings were issued for “Fatal Four” violations. These violations are most associated with fatal traffic crashes and include Speeding, DUI, Failure to Wear a Seat Belt, and Distracted Driving.
