(FAIRFIELD, IL) — A 25-year-old Fairfield man is in the Wayne County Jail after sheriff’s deputies arrested him on suspicion of setting fire to a Wayne County home. According to sheriff’s reports, Cody Randall Lee was charged Thursday in Wayne County Court with one count Class-1 Felony residential arson. The Albion Rural fire Department responded around 7:15 Thursday morning to a call of a trailer on fire in Golden Gate and upon their arrival, firefighters found the home was fully engulfed in flames. Wayne County Sheriff’s detectives responded to the scene after neighbors raised questions about the cause of the fire. Deputies found Lee near the scene and questioned him about the fire. Lee reportedly told deputies he had gone to the home to confront the owner about personal issues and discovered he was not home. Lee is accused of kicking in the front door of the home and setting the curtains on fire. The fire quickly spread, leading to the mobile home being destroyed. Lee is being held in the Wayne County Jail pending the formal filing of charges and the setting of bail.
