Paul Dennis Giamanco, 74, passed away at Manor Care Nursing home in Hinsdale Illinois on November 14, 2016. He was born February 24, 1942 in New York. He attended St. John’s University in New York for his undergraduate degree and married Frances DioGuardi. After graduating, he attended University of Toledo Ohio law school. Paul then moved to St. Louis, Missouri and served in the FBI. After his years in law enforcement Paul moved to Mt. Vernon, Illinois where he practiced law for many years helping countless people obtain justice and peace. In 1973 he met Scherrie Viola, the love of his life, and they were married. Later in years he taught in various positions at Mt. Vernon Township High School, where again he inspired and coached many teens on their life journey. He was involved in countless community and state organizations that assisted in providing a better community for everyone in Illinois. He is preceded in death by his father John Giammanco and his sister Debbie King. He is survived by his children and step-children Samantha Benefield, P.J. Giamanco, Joe Giamanco, Mia Phifer and Vani Phifer. His loving grandchildren Avonlea Benefield, Max Benefield, Lilly Benefield, Lola Benefield, Michael Benefield, Gabriel Benefield, Emily Clementine Benefield, Paige Cherry, Olivia Giamanco, Natalia Giamanco, Jack Giamanco, and Erika Hay. His mother Patricia Giammanco, and sisters Lauren Obst, Angella Holder, Pamela Ferroir, and brother John Giammanco. His playful spirit and love of nourishing family dinners will be missed by many. A memorial mass for family will be held in Illinois. In lieu of flowers the family asks that everyone share a pasta meal with their loved ones, linger over dinner and enjoy!
