(CENTRALIA, IL) — Firefighters remained on scene for hours Monday, fighting a blaze at a home in the 1000 block of Cheyenne Road in rural Centralia. Centralia Fire Protection District was called out around 1:30 Monday afternoon to a report of a mobile home with an addition at 1021 Cheyenne Road that was fully involved. As of 5:30 p.m., firefighters remained on scene. The property is located east of Centralia and just south of Highway 161 in the Hubbard Woods area. Mutual aid from both Odin and Kell were dispatched with both asked to bring their tanker trucks. Salem firefighters were also dispatched to the scene, and Lifestar ambulance service was asked to stand by due to the high heat and humidity. The owner was reportedly inside the home at the time the fire broke, but was able to get out safely. He reportedly told firefighters he thought maybe his four-wheeler, which as in the garage had caught fire starting the blaze, the four-wheeler was destroyed in the blaze, and a Dodge pickup truck was seriously damaged.
