(MT. VERNON, IL) — A semi-motorcycle collision Sunday led to the death of the motorcyclist in Mt. Vernon.  Preliminary investigation determined that the 73 year old driver of the semi that was registered in Ohio had proceeded into the path of a westbound motorcycle on Veteran’s Memorial Drive.  The motorcyclist collided with the truck and was pronounced deceased at the scene. Names are being withheld pending further investigation and notification of family members of the deceased.  An accident reconstructionist was called in and a further report will be issued at a later date.  The truck driver was cited for failure to yield at an intersection.
