(MT. VERNON, IL) — On Friday, the Mt Vernon Police Department / Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department High Risk Team served two search warrants at residences in Mt Vernon. The warrants were issued by the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department and signed by the Honorable Judge Jerry Crisel. Both warrants were issued in connection with ongoing weapons and burglary investigations in Mt Vernon. The two residences were 621 South 18th Street and 729 South 18th Street. As a result of the search warrants a seventeen year old male was taken into custody and firearms seized. Two of the firearms seized were stolen. The seventeen year old male has been charged with Armed Violence, Residential Burglary, Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon and No Valid FOID Card. The juvenile will be housed in the Franklin County Juvenile Detention Facility pending a court date in Jefferson County. The police department is seeking to locate another suspect, 24 year old Lyle Bulliner, in connection with these investigations.
