(MT. VERNON, IL) — A subject is in custody after attempting to run over a Jefferson County Sheriff’s Deputy with a vehicle. Deputies with the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office had responded to the Woodlawn area Sunday evening to assist Mount Vernon Police Department in locating Joshua Boldrey in reference to a domestic incident where he had assaulted his mother and fled the scene with a small child. Boldrey had made statements to family members that he had a gun and would kill law enforcement if they tried to stop him. Deputies recognized Boldrey’s vehicle approaching them on Fair Drive Lane. The Deputy, along with an Illinois State Police Officer, turned on his lights and exited his fully marked patrol vehicle in an attempt to stop Boldrey. The Deputy stated Boldrey accelerated toward him in an attempt to run over him. The Deputy fired one round at the driver of the vehicle as it approached him. The vehicle continued on the road way and Boldrey exited the vehicle and fled on foot into a wooded area. Boldrey was taken into custody a short time later without injury. Boldrey was taken to the Jefferson County Justice Center for Incarceration with bond to be set. Boldrey is charged with Aggravated Domestic Battery, Attempted Murder, Aggravated Assault, Child Endangerment, and Fleeing and Eluding. Sheriff Travis Allen initially made a brief statement Sunday evening on the JCSO’s Facebook page regarding the incident.
