Miriam May, age 64 of Mt. Vernon, IL passed away 1:33 p.m. Thursday, March 10, 2016 at her home in Mt. Vernon.

Miriam was born August 15, 1951 in St. Louis, Missouri the daughter of Frank and Jody Hunter.

Ms. May was of the Christian Faith. She graduated from Pattonville High School in St. Louis County, Missouri. She worked at Engineered Lubricants as a receptionist for a number of years. Mimi loved her family very much and was especially proud of her grandkids. She was a cat person and was always up for a political argument with her brother. Mimi was a poet and enjoyed Classic Rock music, especially The Moody Blues. She will be missed.

Her daughter Melissa says “I love you mama”.

Mimi’s is survived by her daughter, Melissa May of St. Louis; grandchildren, Samantha Strothkamp and friend Brandon Arnold of St. Louis, Nicole Strothkamp and friend Roberto Ayala of St. Louis, and James Wheeler; Mimi’s great grandchild,
Maximus Ayala; brother, Tom Hunter and wife Trish: their two children, Katlyn and Zeke all of Mt. Vernon; brother, Frank Hunter and wife Carol of Boulder City, NV: their children, Bob, Connie, Lisa, Pam and Allen (various locations); and also many other great nieces and great nephews.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, parents and the father of her child, James May.

A memorial service will be held 6 p.m. Thursday, March 24, 2016 at the Christian Fellowship Church 2416 Cherry Street in Mt. Vernon with Pastor Tom Hunter officiating.
