(WALNUT HILL, IL) — An alleged attempt to disarm a Marion County Sheriff’s deputy Monday has landed a 35-year-old Walnut Hill man in jail, with bail set at $100,000. Deputies had responded to a call from the mother of Carl Horn that Horn was threatening suicide. While on scene and in the kitchen of the home, Horn allegedly said he was going to take Deputy Hannah Burr’s gun and lunged toward the deputy. Burr was able to keep Horn from her gun and reportedly Tasered him twice, with little affect. The struggle between Burr and Horn continued until Sgt. Deputy David Hiltibidal arrived on scene and helped Burr take Horn to the ground and get him in handcuffs. Burr reportedly was uninjured in the incident. EMTs that had been dispatched earlier checked Horn for injuries and he was cleared to be taken to the Marion County Jail, where he remains with bail set at $100,000. Horn was formally charged in Marion County Court Tuesday morning with Class 2 felony aggravated battery to a peace officer and Class 2 felony attempt to disarm a peace officer.
