MOUNT VERNON — Donna Kaye Thompson, 78, of Mount Vernon, Illinois, passed away at 5:28 pm June 1, 2024 at her sister’s residence in Mount Vernon. She was born November 27, 1945 in Jefferson County, Illinois to the late Carl Wilson and Georgia Wilma (Bond) Williford. Donna married George Frank Thompson, Jr. on November 5, 1988. They were blessed with thirty-three years of marriage before he preceded her in death on December 23, 2021.

Donna is survived by children, Tina Beckham and husband, Lyle of Opdyke, Illinois, Tracy St. Clair and husband, Skip of Wayne Ohio, and Kenny Carl Bressler and wife, Vicki of Mount Vernon, Illinois; stepchildren, Frank Thompson and wife, Jacenta of Mount Vernon, Illinois and Jeremy Thompson of Mount Vernon, Illinois; nine grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; sister, Linda Regenhardt of Mount Vernon, Illinois; brother, Alan Williford and wife, Marsha of Mount Vernon, Illinois; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Donna was preceded in death by her brother, Burce Williford and grandparents.

Donna attended Woodlawn Grade School, Mount Vernon High School, and Rend Lake College to become a registered nurse. She then worked at St. Mary’s Hospital in Centralia for twenty years. Donna was an avid cat lover, She also loved making crafts for others and making others happy. She loved celebrating birthdays and enjoyed spending time with her family and two dear friends.
