MOUNT VERNON — Dorothy J. Olin, 92, of Mount Vernon, Illinois, passed away at 12:30 pm June 9, 2024 at Mount Vernon Health Care Center in Mount Vernon. She was born August 27, 1931 in Mount Vernon, Illinois to the late Leonard and Dorothy (Skelton) Strattan. Dorothy married Gilbert Olin on October 2, 1948. They were blessed with forty-three years of marriage before he preceded her in death on November 9, 1991.

Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Kathy Wilson of Mount Vernon, Illinois; grandchildren, Layla Olin and husband, Eric of Portland, Oregon, Felecia Olin and husband, Jim of Springfield, Illinois, Derrek Wilson and wife, Nancy of Mount Vernon, Illinois, Joshua Wilson of Mount Vernon, Illinois, Ravyn Olin of Mount Vernon, Illinois, Dallas Bradford of Saint Louis, Missouri, and Jordan Olin McMahon of Mount Vernon, Illinois; great-grandchildren, Maddie, Weland, River, Roxxie, Reis, and Riley; and sister, Maple Patton of Centralia, Illinois.

In addition to her parents and husband, Dorothy was preceded in death by her sons, Bruce and Brian Olin and infant daughter, Sally Olin.

Dorothy was an artist and enjoyed arranging flowers. She operated Dottie’s Crafts in Mount Vernon for several years and enjoyed creating crafts.

A Graveside Service will be held Wednesday, June 12, 2024 at 11:00 am at Bethel Memorial Cemetery in Mount Vernon, Illinois. Interment will follow.
